2020 Spring/Summer Urban Beach Manager
We're looking for an energetic and outgoing person to be the face of beach volleyball at Urban Beach this summer! No volleyball experience necessary, but an interest in meeting new people and interacting with players is a must!
Urban Beach is a 25-court beach volleyball facility in Vancouver that hosts up to 50 beach volleyball teams each night from Sunday to Thursday during the spring and summer months. We also hold beach volleyball tournaments there on Saturdays 1-2 times per month.
This position would be seasonal and part-time, so potentially a good fit for someone who is looking for a second job this summer!
Title: Urban Beach Manager
Type of Position: Seasonal temporary fulltime (approximately 20 hours per week)
Effective Start Date: April 6th, 2020
Effective End Date: September 10th, 2020
Hours of Work:
- Sundays- 5pm-8:15pm; however, 2pm-8:15pm for parts of June-August (special rental group)
- Mondays through Thursdays- (4:15pm-8:15pm)
- Saturday tournaments (approx. 1 per month) (9am-4pm)
Location: Urban Beach (900 Evans Avenue, Vancouver)
Primary Responsibilities: To facilitate beach volleyball leagues and tournaments- this will include setting up/taking down equipment, organizing signage/displays, greeting/interacting with participants. To help recruit/train/supervise volunteer staff at this location. To interact with teams/participants in these leagues to facilitate a sportsmanlike atmosphere and to support sponsor-driven initiatives. Some office work prior to play Monday-Thursday: entering results online and preparing schedules, evaluating teams and reseeding them as warranted.
Requirements: Experience in sport administration or event management preferred, but not necessary. More importantly, the successful candidates will be outgoing, organized, have a positive attitude, be able to work unsupervised, and work well as part of a team. Experience recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers is also beneficial.
Remuneration: Salary of $1500 per month per position plus an opportunity for a performance bonus based on tournament registrations.
