Rules: Please review the rules before the tournament with your team to avoid any confusion. 
Fouls: Please call your own fouls. Games are self-refereed.  Participants are responsible for calling their own fouls- please err on the side of good sportsmanship.

Grass Volleyball Rules Co-ed 4’s
  1. Players can set the serve
  2. Players can set free balls
  3. Player CAN set over the net
  4. No open hand tips
  5. Ball can hit the net on a serve
  6. Block does not count as a first contact
  7. Players can not touch any part of the net with their body –call your own net fouls
  8. Anyone can attack from anywhere on the court
  9. There are NO cour position resctrictions, but teams must follow a consistent serving sequence
  10. All players area ble to block all players
  11. Must have at least 1 woman and 1 man on the court at all times
  12. Round Robin (seeding) matches will consist of 20-minute timed games with no cap on points (play until the whistle). If the game is tied when the whistle blows, teams will play one more point to determine a winner (NO TIES). Games are all rally point. If teams want, they may switch sides every 10 points.
    Playoffs
  13. Playoff matches will have a best 2-of-3 (21/21/15) format. Games are all rally point, win by 2 points, with a hard cap at 23 (Hard cap at 17 in the 3rd match). Playoff matches may be timed if necessary.
  14. Playoff matches will be over when a team wins 2 sets or time expires. Urban Rec will be responsible for keeping time.
  15. If time expires during the 3rd set, whichever team is winning at that point will win the match.
  16. If time expires during the 2nd set, then total points scored in the 2 games to that point will determine the winner of the match. If the whistle blows while play is on, please play out the point. If this results in the score being tied for the set or for the match, then teams will play one more point to determine a clear winner.

Grass Volleyball Rules Reverse 2’s
  1. No touching the net at any point
  2. No open hand tips
  3. No setting a free ball
  4. No setting the serve
  5. No setting over
  6. Men must attack from behind the attack line
  7. Men can only block men
  8. Men must attack from below the height of the nets when inside the 3-meter line; ball must cross opponent’s 3-meter line
  9. Women can attack from anywhere on the court
  10. Men can attack over-bump (1st or 2nd hit only)
  11. Block does not count as a first contact
