As details for the spring season are finalized, leagues will be added at the bottom of this page.

*Priority registration is for teams that played in the previous season of that specific league.
Open registration is for teams that did NOT play in the previous season.

Individual registration may not be available for all leagues.

⚾General Softball League Notes

  • A complete starting line up should consist of 10 players including at least 4 woman and one man
  • click on the RULES and FAQ sections at the bottom of this page for more info
  • EQUIPMENT:
    • Maxfun leagues- teams must provide their own set of bases (except individuals’ teams- Urban Rec will provide a set of bases). Click here to see what you need in your set of bases.  Home team for each game is responsible for bringing and setting up their bases.
    • Thunderchicken leagues- bases will be provided by the league (teams responsible for setting up and returning)
  • participants supply their own gloves and bats (all leagues)
  • LOCATIONS:
    • Maxfun leagues- fields/diamonds will vary from week to week and are located throughout the city of Vancouver (City of Vancouver Fields)
    • Thunderchicken leagues- games are played at fields at UBC
  • SCHEDULE:
    • Maxfun Weekday league will generally play once a week on either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday (i.e. you could play on any of those nights each week).
    • all other leagues are night-specific and only play on their night (e.g., Sunday league plays on Sundays only)
  • if games are cancelled by Urban Rec, then the season may be extended or doubleheaders may be scheduled to make up the missed games

  • leagues are coed and teams need a minimum of 4 women and 1 man if fielding a full lineup of 10 players
  • teams can have additional players in their batting order (but the maximum in the field is 10 players at a time)
  • games will be at Hjorth Road Park diamonds. Royal Kwantlen Park may also be used.

Individual Player Information
Signing up solo? No problem! Individual teams start in the most Recreational Division available, designed for new or beginner players looking to learn, improve, and have fun. Individual registration at other skill levels is not offered as in our experience, there are generally not enough individual registrants at other skill levels to create full teams.  See our Individual Player FAQs and Individual Teams Policy for more details.

If you don’t see individual registration as an option for a league, then individual registration is NOT AVAILABLE for that league

- upcoming league information will be posted at the bottom of this page as bookings are finalized (additional leagues may be posted closer to the registration date)
- not all leagues may be offered in each season due to facility unavailability
- not all leagues may offer individual registration
- note that individuals’ teams are recreational in nature and are seeded as such (at least initially). More experienced players are welcome to join, but be aware that the overall skill level is generally less experienced.
